Safer Internet Day celebrated by class 10LH4

At the beginning of February, class 10LH4 marked a very special date: Safer Internet Day. Aware that the theme is very important—promoting respect, empathy, and healthy interaction, both in person and online—the students prepared a range of activities that involved the entire school community.

This initiative was also part of the eTwinning project “Windows opening to classrooms of tomorrow,” in which the class has been working throughout the school year, reflecting on the responsible use of the Internet and the importance of kindness in both the digital and real worlds.

On February 11, a lecture on Internet safety and the consequences of bullying and cyberbullying took place, led by Engineer José Carlos Silva and psychologist Maria José Barbosa. Class 10LH4 played an active role in the organization: they designed the promotional poster, prepared the venue, and opened the session, welcoming the speakers, teachers, and students. The event offered moments of sharing, reflection, and awareness, particularly for classes 10LH4, 10CSE1, and 12TSI, emphasizing the importance of responsible and empathetic online behavior.

Safer Internet Day

As part of the Windows Opening to Classrooms of Tomorrow project, class 10LH4 is organizing a meeting with engineer José Carlos Silva and psychologist Maria José Barbosa, dedicated to the theme “The dangers of the internet and their consequences in our lives.”

This initiative aims to raise students’ awareness of safer and more mindful use of digital technologies, encouraging reflection on the impact of the internet on everyday life, namely in areas such as privacy, cyberbullying, misinformation, and time management online.

The goal is to help everyone develop digital citizenship skills, promoting responsible, critical, and respectful attitudes in the digital environment, in line with the spirit of Safer Internet Day, which seeks to involve schools and communities in building a better internet for children and young people.

Bullying

This book brings together some of the work developed by students as part of the project “Windows opening to classrooms of tomorrow” dedicated to bullying and its prevention, issues that are increasingly present in our school environment.

Throughout this journey, students reflected on the impact of these situations, shared ideas, and sought to better understand how different countries — in this case, Portugal and Turkey — address this issue from a legislative perspective.

More than just a set of activities, this project was an opportunity to grow, develop empathy, and reinforce the importance of respect for others. The work presented here reflects this engagement and a shared commitment to contributing to a safer and more inclusive school.

Creative Works in the eTwinning Project

Portuguese students have been developing various creative works within the eTwinning project, namely slogans, posters, logos, and infographics, which allow them to reflect on the project's themes, communicate clear and appealing messages, and use digital tools while collaborating with peers from other countries and strengthening their citizenship and visual communication skills.

Second partners’ meeting assesses progress and sets next steps

The second partners’ meeting took place in an atmosphere of cooperation and knowledge sharing. The main goals of this meeting were to review the work carried out so far, identify the main challenges encountered, and outline strategies to overcome them.

During the session, each team presented an update on the activities completed to date, highlighting both achievements and the difficulties faced throughout the process. Together, the partners discussed practical solutions to optimize task implementation and strengthen communication among participants.

The next phases of the project were also addressed, with special attention given to the schedule of upcoming activities and the definition of responsibilities for each partner. The meeting was marked by motivation and teamwork, reflecting the shared commitment to the project’s quality and success.

This second meeting represented an important milestone in consolidating the project, allowing adjustments to strategies and reinforcing collaboration among all participants.
